Happy (belated) Blog-o-versary to me

• I just noticed that I passed by the one-year anniver­sary of the blog with­out notic­ing. My first entry was on August 12, 2004, and though it was back on the old “Heterodox-Orthodox” site, I think I still get to count it.

  Actu­ally, I did notice that the anniver­sary was approach­ing. But I didn’t want to say any­thing on the day, because as I recall, sev­eral of the St. Barn­abas kids made it to the one-year mark and the effort nearly killed their blog com­pletely (ahem, E Rica and Sean), and at least one did die a bloggy death (ahem, Han­nah ). I don’t con­sider myself a super­sti­tious woman, but in this case I blame the astro­log­i­cal mean­ing of the moon’s influ­ence over the cycles of Twelve-Month, together with spe­cific highly sci­en­tific phe­nom­ena asso­ci­ated with the num­ber one (see Sci­en­tific Amer­i­can, July 2001 “How the Numero Uno Pizza Chain Taunted Death”).

  Any­way, it’s a gen­uine occa­sion, which means I have to bake brown­ies. Oh dear, how try­ing it is to be a slave to protocol.

  Thanks! In the end, I chick­ened out and went for a cou­ple slice-n-bake choco­late chip cook­ies. Still yummy, but a hint less guilt associated.
