My last pair of bloomers

• Well, it has decided to start being Novem­ber, so this is the last color I’ll get from my gar­den till next year.. I had the nerve to plant these two tall cos­mos plants so late in the sum­mer that they had to rough it out in Sep­tem­ber and Octo­ber when all other cos­mos plants have smugly gone to seed. These two troop­ers only blos­somed a cou­ple days ago, and I thought I bet­ter grab a pic­ture just to com­mem­o­rate the occasion.

  Just as well I did. Our first real snow­storm started this morn­ing, and the cos­mos are done for. Good­bye, autumn. Hello, winter.
