The Middle East and conquest

• All right, I’m try­ing to get ready for a trip, so I can’t believe I’m tak­ing time to blog right now, but this is the type of thing I just love the inter­net for. A friend sent me this, an ani­mated time­line of how empires have come and gone in the Mid­dle East, Europe and north­ern Africa from 3000 BC to the present. It’s a tiny lit­tle cram-for-the-final his­tory helper and it’s all in pretty colors!

  I’ve checked out this site (I’m going to be a social stud­ies teacher, and used this site in a fake les­son plan I had to cre­ate for a cer­ti­fi­ca­tion class. Infor­ma­tive, ain’t it? I plan on using it if I ever teach World History.

  Glad to know this ani­mated graphic checks out fac­tu­ally. I real­ized I wouldn’t really know if they got a lot of that wrong.

  Grace — that is a really cool map! Only recently has there been any inde­pen­dence at all — amaz­ing! Makes you won­der when the next big empire will take over. I am for­ward­ing this to all of my his­tory buff friends.
