Those silly restrictions on infanticide

  • I shouldn’t post stuff this late, but I just read this and it makes me sick.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s announcement Monday that he is overturning his predecessor’s policies toward embryonic stem cells also will include a broad declaration that science — not political ideology — would guide his administration. …

“We’ve got eight years of science to make up for,” said Dr. Curt Civin, whose research allowed scientists to isolate stem cells and who now serves as the founding director of the University of Maryland Center for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. “Now, the silly restrictions are lifted.”

So everyone wins, right? Science is good. Miraculous cures — which haven’t exactly been the hallmark of stem cell research up to now — are sure to abound. Once again, we can count on the smart people to do what’s best.

Well, there is just that one silly objection that the stupid people have.

Bush and his supporters said they were defending human life; days-old embryos — typically from fertility-clinic leftovers otherwise destined to be thrown away — are destroyed for the stem cells.

As you’d imagine, that leads to the dismissive claim that “Hey, these are mostly going to be thrown out anyway. Just ‘surgical waste,’ really.” But a pro-stem-cell Republican isn’t even hiding behind that fake-out.

“Frankly, federal funding of embryonic stem cell research can bring on embryo harvesting, perhaps even human cloning that occurs,” he said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We don’t want that. … And certainly that is something that we ought to be talking about, but let’s take care of business first. People are out of jobs.”

May God have mercy on the unborn in this country. Apparently we won’t.

    Grace,

Don’t become disheartened. Immanuel — God (is) with us!

Although the administration is doing awful things, there are Americans out there working daily to make a difference. We are part way through the latest 40 Days for Life campaign. The latest report is not only that 92 babies have been saved, but also that 13 people who used to work in the abortion industry have left for other jobs.

One baby saved doesn’t sound like much, but remember that the angels rejoice over just one who comes to repentance! (Luke 15:10) They MUST also rejoice over a single child saved — and so should we and not only despair over those lost.

See the link below and check the blog and, if there is something in your community, get involved!

PS Thanks for hints on Alaska!

  • You’re right, I need something to cheer me up. For some reason, that news really got me down. I’ll check out the link. I think there are some Kansas City activities with this.
