Updates on terrorism

    • The UK police are reporting now that the man they shot and killed was not connected to either of the subway bombings. Oh no. This is bad.
    • By the way, I read somewhere online that the police are saying the things left at the sites of the unsuccessful bombings will provide a lot of worthwhile information about the terrorists. I wish they would be specific about whether there were bombs that didn’t go off or merely detonators, because everyone is trying to figure out whether these were true attacks that went completely wrong or just a fear tactic. It seems amazing that *four* bombs all failed, but an analyst I saw on Fox News mentioned that about 1 in 3 of terrorist attacks fail on their account, so maybe it was just a happy coincidence. This analyst also mentioned the intriguing possiblity that this might be the result of Western infiltrators into terrorist cells who have compromised their explosives.
    • Via InstaPundit, here is an Egyptian blogger with some additional and personal info on yesterday’s bombings in an Egyptian resort. (Current death toll: 83. This story doesn’t seem to be garnering big headlines, so you can read about it H E R E if this is the first you’ve heard.) The blog has garnered an Instalanche of comments, but they’re worth trying to make your way through. For instance, I thought this was interesting analysis from one commenter named Finnpundit:

I think that this is the worst time for the fanatics to be picking fights with Egypt. This will only help align the Eqyptian people with the struggle of the nascent Iraqi government, – a democratic struggle.

This was a very, very stupid move on the part of the terrorists, who’ve shown better analytical skills in terms of politics (Madrid, 3/11). It seems to me that they are becoming more and more desperate. Gone is the dictum that Muslims should not kill other Muslims. Their true demeanor as fanatics becomes all the more apparent, and most likely will marginalize them further.

We all knew that it was going to happen, but happen this fast? They must be desperate, indeed.

I just wish they would slip up enough that we could find Osama and bring him to justice for 9/11 and all the other terrorist acts in our country and abroad. He’s already admitted his guilt. It wouldn’t be nearly as difficult to bring him to justice as it may be with Saddam.

Sending prayers to London and Egypt!

  • Absolutely! It’s incredible to think that we can’t find this one guy. At this point, probably taking him out would lead to many little chiefs announcing that they were his heir apparent. Some of the actions of others like Al-Zarqawi showed that they don’t always follow his directions. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Muslim-on-Muslim attack in Egypt is divisive among terrorists. All just speculation, of course. Who knows what the “rules” are, if there are any.
