Justice Fudd reporting for duty

  • Dang — didn’t it seem like a quiet morning? Bush announced last night that he was nominating John Roberts to the Supreme Court position, and all the Democrats said, “.… . ” By which I infer they wanted to say, ” .…???”

It’s almost as if Bush took me up on my grand idea and nominated Elmer Fudd just to shut them up. Well, most of them. Ted Kennedy didn’t shut up for long, because that wouldn’t be possible. He’s been on the morning shows saying that “the American people” are just dying to know “whose side John Roberts is on.” Translation: Is he left-of-center, and if not, can he be compelled to act left-of-center. If not … well, “the American people” apparently won’t stand for it. Thanks, Ted — can the American people freshen up that drink for you?

And the pro-abortion crowd didn’t shut up. They were at it while Ted was still putting on his foundation garment this morning. Oh no. It’s the end of everything. John Roberts is the enemy of all women everywhere.

All based on what exactly. Roberts has said one time that Roe vs. Wade was a bad idea (or something equally tame), which I’d think could be argued simply from the point of it being such an egregious case of judicial activism.

But go to it, abortion-crowd. I actually think they won’t win anybody to their side, and they might turn a lot of people off. The fact is, the country is so politically divided now that there aren’t a lot of people left who change based on one current event or the other. During elections, everybody flips their lid wondering what the Centrists are going to do, but isn’t it obvious that the Centrists don’t want to do one thing more than they have to? They nearly put themselves in a coma just trying to figure out who to vote for every four years. Other than that, they sleep a lot, I think. They don’t like to be bothered, and abortion bothers them because it reminds them of something that’s, y’know, yucky.

So I say we let them sleep in. The Senate should confirm Roberts because there’s not really any good reason not to, and let’s all get back to complaining about something more worthwhile.
